Epic Games buys Harmonix to create ‘musical journeys’ in ‘Fortnite’
1 min readEpic Games have acquired Harmonix, the studio behind titles such as guitar heroes, rock rocks, central dance and more recently fuser. The financial term has not been disclosed. Epic’s vision for Harmonix involves metaphevers. In the future direct, both plan to create “music and gameplay trips for fortnite.”
Judging through the lens, Epic’s interest in the studio is very reasonable. Outside frequent collaboration brands, fortnite at this point is famous for its virtual concert. In the past two years, a handful of key artists such as Ariana Grande and Travis Scott have attracted a lot of interest in the game. In the latter case, for example, more than 12.3 people witnessed Scott’s performance simultaneously.
Meanwhile, Harmonix said he would continue to support the side game. That means rock band players can continue to look forward to DLC and new fuser players can expect the studio to continue hosting events. In addition, every game currently available through Steam will continue to be sold through the Storefront Valve.
