GameSir T4 Mini Game Controller Review

Gaming sees a big uptick in the past two years, some thanks to new consoles and partly because of the Pandemic Covid-19. It is the right time not only for games and consoles but also for game accessories that diversify the market with more options, especially when it comes to input controls such as keyboards, mice, and, of course, controllers. With many people will move again, the need for more portable accessories is also clearer. Gamesir T4 Mini is part of a new generation of controllers who have mobility in essence, and we take it for rounds to check whether it makes some compromises along the way to achieve its goals.

Design

The Gamesir T4 Mini, as the name suggests, is a smaller version of Gamepad Maker’s Gamesir T4 Pro, which, in turn, is designed to be an alternative to the Nintendo’s First-Party Switch Pro Controller. Look can cheat, as they say, and T4 Mini is actually a lot of packages inside and then some. In fact, even beyond his older brother in at least one aspect.

Smaller sizes have many benefits with a little weakness. Easily put in a bag or even into a big pocket, make it comfortable to carry wherever you go, especially if you use it with a smartphone. It will definitely be a hit with children or people with smaller hands, but are comfortable to hold and use for most people.

The compactness will have some weaknesses, of course, especially for those who have big hands. Plastic material that helps keep light might make it scared some gamers, but are quite sturdy and durable in practice. The biggest design consideration you might want to remember is the lack of “wings” or extended grips, something that brings trust in some gamers but doesn’t do much for others.

The most important part of the Gamesir T4 mini design, at least apart from its small size, is a translucent black body, which not only imposes its innards but also allows LED lights to shine. These lights can be configured to a certain extent or fully turned off to preserve the battery. This is not an important feature, especially because you will rely a little on muscle memory, but it is still a good touch that can appeal to gamers who have a tendency for the lighting.

Connection and control

Although advertised as a multi-platform game controller, Gamesir T4 Mini is clearly designed with the Nintendo Memory Switch. Button layout, stick, and D-pad follow the JOOY-CONS, and setting the A, B, X, and Y key is the opposite of the xbox layout. There are also special buttons for home, screenshot, plus (+), and minus (-) which only makes sense to the Nintendo switch.

Of course, all these buttons can be used with compatible devices, which officially include Nintendo Switch, Android, iOS, and PC. T4 Mini is mainly connected via Bluetooth, but can also connect to a PC with a USB-c cable. There is no compatibility with other consoles, whether Xbox or Playstation.
