What is the 482 Visa?

The 482 visa, officially known as the Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa, allows Australian businesses to sponsor skilled workers from overseas to fill job vacancies when they cannot find a suitable Australian candidate. Introduced in 2018 as a replacement for the 457 visa, the 482 visa aims to address workforce shortages in critical sectors.

This temporary visa has different streams, depending on the role and the employer’s needs. It also provides opportunities for visa holders to apply for permanent residency under specific circumstances.

  • Applicable for occupations listed on the Medium and Long-Term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL).
  • Valid for up to 4 years and allows for multiple renewals.
