Sonos Sub Mini subwoofer leaks in app as smaller – hopefully cheaper – model
Sonos accidentally confirmed the existence of a smaller and cheaper subwoofer for those who were not interested in sub 3 sub. The new model was revealed in the Sonos application on the page that added the second subwoofer to the Sonos audio settings. Even though the company has not officially announced the model, the menu reveals some major details.
Sonos announced the Gen 3 sub subwoofer on May 2020 in addition to the new Arc-now soundbar. The large square-shaped subwoofer remains available for purchase, enriching a person’s home entertainment experience, but with a substantial price label of $ 749 USD. It’s too high than the price for some consumers to justify, which is possible where the sub mini leaks enter.
The existence of the sub-mini was confirmed in the Sonos application, at least based on the screenshot distribution distributed by Reddit User S114Hed in Sonos Subreddit. Sub mini mentioned twice in screenshot, including the visual description of the device: subwoofer “smaller, cylinder” compared to 3 larger gen 3 genes and cubes. Unfortunately, sub mini cannot be added as a second subwoofer to audio settings that already have sub units. Although sub mini has appeared in the Sonos application, remains without notice and the company has not commented on the leak.
The other key details are still missing are sub-mini prices, although it is very possible that the price is less than expensive. The model is likely to enter into the audio product line to meet the demand from Sonos users who want to add a subwoofer to their Arc soundbar, for example, but who are not willing to drop almost in the sub.
Too early to say when Sonos will officially announce the sub mini, even though its presence in the Sonos application means the launch is likely to occur in a relatively close future.
