Nokia 9 PureView Android 11 isn’t happening, HMD Global offers discounts instead

When HMD Global takes Nokia inheritance, wants to make a good impression on the Android market. It departs to defeat a larger company by offering something Behemoth who is rarely able, promising the old software update period or the “pure” android “experience”. However, over time, the Android landscape has shifted a little, and more telephone makers began to do rights by their customers. Ironically, it seems that Global HMD is now experiencing at least one problem in keeping the promise and advising people to buy Nokia phones just if they really want Android 11.

In the midst of this little drama is PureView Nokia 9. Launched in 2019, this phone is one of the few Nokia models that can be considered as superior, even if the Snapdragon 845 processor is behind the times. The claim for fame is the name PureView, which is inherited from the Nokia 808 and the Nokia Lumia 920, as well as a unique Penta-Camera system.

That feature, unfortunately, may be the cause of early death and shame of global HMD. This phone was launched with Android 9 and promised Android 10 and Android 11. It indeed promises Android 10 updates, but the ball will stop rolling after that, delete Android 11 expectations and so on.

According to the official HMD global statement, a difficult decision was achieved because they could not get Android 11 to work in a way that meets the company’s high standards. In particular, he found incompatibility with cellphone cameras and Android 11 software that cannot be overcome or not worth the effort. HMD Global decides to give up and redeem errors in other ways.

On the one hand, global HMD may not be entirely wrong here. The camera was made by a company called Light, which came out of the smartphone market last year. It might make it difficult for global HMD to collaborate with problems that surround unusual camera settings. On the other hand, global HMD should have mild responsibility with a kind of agreement that legally ties the light to provide support for the camera until after the official support of Nokia 9 PureView.

Unfortunately, we don’t know the secret of negotiations behind the scenes, and we have to give a global HMD benefit from doubts. However, it will not leave the Nokia 9 PureView without compensation, and offers a 50% discount to buy Nokia XR20 or other cellphones. That’s if they really intend to use an Android phone 11.

It also suggested, however, that support for PureView Nokia 9 might soon be over. Even though the company has not said anything, security patches in the future can be more difficult because of the same situation. While other Nokia phones are not eccentric like this, it might raise some questions about whether Global HMD will use the same reason when it runs into similar obstacles on future mobile phones.
